Happy Lemon: Cocoa with Rock Salt and Cheese

(Don't look at me. Look behind me. See the wall advertisement to my left? Somewhere in that picture is Cocoa with Rock Salt and Cheese. Tried uploading pictures of the drink itself but all I have are empty glasses of it. Want me throw-up the drink for you to see it? :)))

Happy Lemon claims having "the world's yummiest drinks." Products range from Milk Teas with Oreo, Lemon Yakult, and even drinks with Rock Salt and Cheese! Being a relatively new drink shop in the Philippines, Happy Lemon provides refreshing and tasty drinks that would make you crave for more! Definitely meets my blog's theme of Hyper Crave Craze!

Overall Rating: [ 4.6 out of 5 ]

The Good: At first, Rock Salt and Cheese seems to be a lunatic's drink. I mean, who in his right mind would put Rock Salt in a chocolate drink? Good thing I was adventurous, if not, I may have missed one of the most wonderful drinks I have ever drank in my whole life. Does that make sense? T_t

Rock Salt + Cheese is an unlikely one-two punch combo that, combined with their equally delectable chocolate drink, would technically knock your taste buds inside out. The salty taste of Rock Salt and Cheese paired with the bittersweet taste of chocolate enhances the flavor of the drink twofold... or threefold or... I am weak with Math, so I won't bother with that. It tastes GREAT! Period. Nothing not awesome follows.

The Bad: The crew wouldn't refill my cup without me paying. Again. And I did not have spare money. Bummer. Now if the customers would just stop emptying their glasses and leave some for me... Oh! Cruel world. :(

Taste: [ 5 out of 5.] - The taste was totally epic. Swagger. The sh*t. Right here. No exaggerations. Refreshing, yet tasty. It gave me the same feeling as me walking down the stairs and missing a step. The taste caught me by surprise. The chocolate's flavor was enriched by the rock salt and cheese. Bittersweet combined with salty flavor is perfect harmony. If you do not get what I mean, just friggin' try it out for yourself.

Price/Affordability: [ 4 out of 5.] - Well, at 100 pesos, can't say it is affordable. But considering the epic taste, and that it really just costs as much as leading drink stores, it is well worth it. On my insane days, I would spend a hundred bucks for the drink, even though I might forfeit eating my lunch meal for it. Seriously. :))

Satiety: [ 5 out of 5.] - For me, a cup of Cocoa with Rock Salt and Cheese fills up my daily craving. Scientifically speaking, a single cup is of epic proportion, satisfying me convincingly. :)

Quality: [ 4 out of 5.] - Overall, the drink was refreshing and great. However, I find the blending of the drink and ice a little bit unsatisfactory. Maybe it's just me being meticulous, but really now, the drink lacks something to be perfect. The blending is a factor. :)

Satisfaction: [ 5 out of 5. ] - Refreshing, great tasting, justifiable price, and fulfilling. Basically, that is what I am looking for in a drink. I'd go for a second round any time. :))

Dunkin' Donuts: Choco Nirvana

( In the Picture: Dunkin' Donuts' Choco Nirvana)

(Disclaimer: I do not own the pic. I am too lazy to take pictures. I know the rule "pics or it didn't happen. Exempt me just this one time, please? This is my first post anyways :)))

Dunkin' Donuts is one of the oldest and popular donut shops in the country. During my childhood days, Dunkin' Donuts is my favorite donut shop. Since then, it has fallen out of grace, overtaken by rivals such as Go Nuts Donuts and Krispy Kreme. Throughout the years, the company has focused on making cheaper donuts than quality donuts. Personally, their products taste like flour bread more than legit donuts. However, with its new offering of the "Premium"
donuts, Dunkin' finally presents itself like a legit donut shop. I'll give you my take on one of its "Premium" donuts: the Choco Nirvana.

Overall Rating: [ 3.6 out of 5.]

The Good: Most would be familiar with the chocolate cream and powder used, because it is from a popular brand. I forgot the brand, but it's on the tip of my tongue. :)) If I could just remember...

The Bad: FRIGGIN' TROLL POWDER! Handle it with care, it spills, scatters, WHATEVER $!#@!. :)) Also, the appearance is not appealing at all. It looks very cheap. If it was not a chocolate variant, I might have snubbed it.

Comments:

Taste: [ 4 out of 5.] - Despite the non-alluring looks of the donut, the taste is a great surprise! The donut does not taste cheap AT ALL! Like I said, I believe that the chocolate cream and powder is from a popular brand. It truly is a chocolate wonder. :)

Price/Affordability: [ 3 out of 5.] - The donut costs 45 pesos. If you would buy a drink (coffee, maybe) you would easily reach 100 pesos. Almost the same price as other competitors' donuts that taste better.

Satiety: [ 4 out of 5.] - While the donut is costly, the serving is generous. Choco Nirvana is as big as the Big Dunk variant. Sharing the donut (along with the price) with someone (special, probably? :)) will make it very much fulfilling. :))

Quality: [ 3 out of 5.] - While the chocolate cream and powder tastes good, the dough is just so-so. Also, the cream is not spread out evenly, and it annoys me when I eat the dough without chocolate. Why the heck would I order Choco Nirvana if I would just eat the dough? Weird. :))

Satisfaction: [ 4 out of 5. ] - Not the best donut I tasted, but definitely a far cry from its usual variants. If its a chocolate fix you are looking for, Choco Nirvana is worth trying. :)

Welcome To Hyper Crave Craze! :)

I was inspired to start this blog because me and my girl <3 almost always goes into a daily food trip routine. So I thought, why not make a blog and share with the rest of the world the stuff that goes into our stomach? d(O_o)b ----> ?

And that is how this blog started. Bow. :)) Since I know foodies do not care about me but only the food, I skipped a possible boring intro and try not to be wordy so that I can focus on being a foodie. Get that ya'll?! :))

Before I begin, I would like to start by introducing myself. I'm Ran, a.k.a. Hyperion. Yes, I know my friends do not call me that, but because you are yet to become a friend of mine, Hyperion will do. If you are already my friend, disregard this. Thank you :))

Continuing where I left off, I would just explain a little bit more about myself:

- I am from Manila, Philippines. My favorite places to eat are places in Manila and in adjacent cities such as Makati, Quezon City, etc.

- Financially speaking, I am probably part of the Middle Class, Lower Middle Class in particular. Which probably means that I only tried most of the food here one time AT THE MOST. I am just a student, after all. :))

- I have none, if not, very little experience eating gourmet food. (probably no experience at all :)))

- My favorite cuisines are Italian, American, Japanese, and of course, Filipino. I love veggies but not fruits and/or seafood, unless the latter are prepared in "special" ways. (fruits - blueberry cheesecake, halo-halo, etc. seafood - tempura, sushi, etc.)

I did not tell you all those things because I am so egotistical. I told you those things so that you would know some of the factors that would affect my verdict on the product. Dude, we are really unique creatures. What I am saying is that, if you somehow find yourself relating to me (my tastes, social standing, etc.), then this guide would probably be accurate for you. If not, then do not blame me if you would not like the food. You tried it on your own volition. :))

The food/drinks I would review would be graded in a scale of 1-5, with 5 being the highest. Since this intro is becoming extensive, I would explain the scaling system when I rate the food/drink. I would provide a simple explanation of the good and bad points of the food/drink. There are also five (5) categories that I would grade and discuss in particular, namely:

1) taste,
2) price/affordability,
3) satiety
4) quality of product, and
5) satisfaction.

So, if you are planning to eat or try food/drinks, if you are lucky, then I might have tried it out for you! Who knows, maybe I can make you Hyper Crave! Anyways, welcome to Hyper Crave Craze!

Happy Binging!
- Hyperion :))
